Invisalign Braces
Straighten Your Smile with Invisalign
We all want beautiful, straight smiles, and while most people with serious dental issues had them fixed as teens, it isn’t the case for everyone. Correcting misaligned teeth as an adult used to mean wearing obtrusive, conspicuous metal braces, forcing people who felt self-conscious about their teeth to feel this even more acutely. Fortunately, those days have ended with the invention of Invisalign. To find out whether Invisalign could be right for you, read on and schedule a consultation with a professional and gentle dentist at the Northridge offices of Sterling Smile Dental.
How does Invisalign work?
Like traditional braces, Invisalign is a treatment designed to reposition your teeth gradually. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign accomplishes this task through the use of uniquely-crafted clear plastic aligners that fit snugly over the teeth. The aligners are created through the use of diagnostic photographs, x-rays, and dental molds (or impressions) of your mouth.
These clear plastic aligners are able to shift teeth horizontally and vertically–even rotate a tooth, if necessary. While the aligners should be worn throughout the day, they can be easily removed while the patient is eating, drinking, or brushing their teeth, and are themselves easily cleaned. Depending on the course of treatment elected by your doctor, the aligners are switched out approximately every two weeks and exchanged for aligners with a slightly different shape, in order to advance the reshaping process.
Invisalign can correct dental issues such as:
- Gapping between teeth
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Overcrowding of teeth
- Open bite
- Crossbite
Depending on the patient’s teeth, Invisalign treatments last one to two years, on average, though recent advances in Invisalign technology have shortened the average treatment time. That said, many patients begin seeing results in their smile in as few as two to three months from the start of treatment. Invisalign patients may also need to wear a retainer after the treatments are completed. Invisalign is often no more expensive than traditional braces. If you’re unsure of whether Invisalign would be worth the time and expense, you can even receive a 3D preview of how you can expect your teeth to look after treatment is complete, provided that you wear the aligners as ordered by your doctor. Sterling Smile Dental has helped many patients find the satisfaction with their smile that they’d always wanted through Invisalign treatments.
